The Calm before the Storm
Abigail and I woke up early this morning, to the sounds of Jenna snoring on our bed. She has taken to sneaking into our bed in the middle of the night. Considering we are about to spend 2 weeks in a tent together, we let her sleep in a little longer. Abigail got up to make breakfast and start the day. Meanwhile it was my job to get the Cat and her "stuff" ready.
THE CAT
While some families would travel with their cat, we aren't one of those families. Believe me, I tried. At one point we bought a harness to see how she would handle it. It was like dragging a brick on a leash. Since we weren't going to bring her with us, our neice Amelia was going to watch her for two weeks.
Its always fun to clean the litter box first thing in the morning (GAG). I wouldn't be a Tech Pet Owner, if we didn't have a robot shaped usb powered cat feeder.
Now with the cat box cleaned, the robot stocked up, and the cat tucked away inside her carrier, it was Abigail's turn to drive it over to her Sisters. Meanwhile, Jenna, Thea, and I were left to our own devises.
The Calm before the Storm
Like the good responsible adult I am, I enjoyed some quality cartoon watching time with my girls while Momma was away. We ate some more breakfast, watched cartoons and had some peace and quiet. Jenna and I discussed what her "Camp Job" would be. She decided it was "Smores Eater".
Finding Motivation
Soon enough Abigail was back home, and we continued to stare at our unpacked camping supplies. We Really Need to start packing. But we weren't going to leave until Monday, so we still had sunday to pack. Right? That was the original plan, but pretty soon Abigail and I agreed to move our schedule up by 1 day. Leaving Sunday morning, instead of Monday
Now it was go time, it was 10am. We had only 19 hours before we were going to pack into the Jeep and head out. Queue the Benny Hill Theme song while we ran around packing. (If your not familiar, click here Here) I would pack something, and then Abigail would have to repack it. She had a system, I had no clue.
17 Hours to go
It was 12:30, we were going to head up to my parents soon to show them the tent and check in before we left. Everything was mostly packed, and ready for us when we got back. It was a hot sunny day, and we were all hot. But it was a good visit with the Grandparents.
Soon we were back in the Jeep heading home. We made one quick stop at Walmart to buy some food for tomorrow, but otherwise home to finish packing.
The First Deadline
We were coming up on our first deadline of the trip. Moms night out was at 6:15PM. Abigail and several of her friends get together every now and then, without kids or husbands. We both agreed it was a good idea for Abigail to get some R&R, especially before we go on a 2 week road trip. While Abigail and her friends were getting dinner at La Corona, the girls and I were eating pizza and popsicles.
Mission Impossible: Finish the Popsicles
Since its summer, we keep a constant supply of popsicles in the freezer. Even though we weren't going to shut off the refridgerator I decided the popscicles had to go. Much to the delight of Jenna & Thea. Unfortunatley since Abigail was at dinner, we don't have any pictures (because apparently I don't take as many photos as Abigail...Go Figure), but the girls devoured many popsicles. The trash can looked like a miniture logging company came to town and dropped off a truck load of wood!
Fun Fact, for some strange reason both girls snap their Popsicle sticks in half when they finish.
8 Hours To Go: Loading up the Jeep
It was 8 O'clock and I managed to get both girls washed, brushed and asleep. Thea in her crib, and Jenna on the couch. Once Abigail got home we started loading up the jeep with as much stuff as we could.
T-Minus 6 1/2 Hours
Its 9:30, we should probably be in bed but we are trying to finish up this blog post & make sure we didn't forget anything. It will be a long day tomorrow, first day of many.
Stay Tune for more updates, the next should be while we are on the road!
